These workshops are designed to assist existing teams and work groups in improving their effectiveness. While the workshops are customized to meet the particular needs of a specific group, typical elements of the workshops include:- an assessment of current team functioning.
- characteristics of an effective team.
- team goals and accountabilities.
- assessing and clarifying roles on the team.
- identification of team member styles and orientations.
- how team members can improve their level of co-operation.
- Improving team meetings.
- problem solving and decision making as a team.
This is an experiential program, that can incorporate a variety of activities, including Myers-Briggs, group discussion and team building exercises. Depending on the needs of the team, the session can also incorporate some additional activity related to the direction of the team. This can include identifying a strategic direction or vision, identifying project priorities, or solving a particular business issue.
Where appropriate, the session can be enhanced through the use of a survey that is distributed ahead of time to various stakeholders, including team members themselves, peers, direct reports and others. Results of the survey are used at the session to map out upgrades for the team.
This is very much a workshop orientation, where the learning is combined with "real work" in establishing improved team norms and practices. All sessions conclude with an action plan for improved team effectiveness.
